Punk, rock, and DBD. Rock looks skinnier cos he shaved. January punk vs Rock? No way you can plan a long term match. With injuries and all. Plus you KNOW rock ain't doing any houseshows. Fuq da roq.
IC match next. Bret the Hartman hart. Xtian vs the Calgary Kid. Calgary goes over!! Fuq qanada

Watched this near a body of flowing water. Posted twice over there, FWIW, I've decided to post my thoughts here in Japan.
- Forgot that the show started at 7pm Central. Got to it during the Layla/AJ deal. Forgot about Layla's accent. I lol'd over the parade outside the door, especially Mae's Hand-Son.
- The nostalgia was fun. Some nice pieces. I expected it to be a total nostalgia show, anyways.
- Why the hell is there a bug on my monitor?
- The 6-man was useless. Nice to hear JR, though.
- Schizoid Cole is Schizoid. Hopefully he's been rewritten. Just have him be neither a baby or a heel.
- I didn't recognize brunette Trish until the yoga reference.
- I laughed at the Sonic car hop. I don't have a problem with product placement. It was rather meta.
- Miz wins the IC?
- The Slater match was fine. He can bump like a million bucks. Fun to see the old-timers. He tool the lariat like a million bucks. Lita looked good. I'd say Slater was the luckiest guy on the card.
- It was fun to see Undertaker. Again, the focus of this show was nostalgia.
- Rock gets a shot at the champ at the Rumble? In kayfabe, who okayed this shit? I should be able to walk out and do that.
- The main was predictable. I thought there was gonna be a fuck finish anyways with Punk retaining. I thought Punk's heel turn was well done. Face it, he's better as a heel. There might be some heat with him as a heel champ. And keep him as a heel champ. IMO, they should keep the strap on Punk. Old school psychology: babies chase the heel. Unless Rock is going out on top, leave the belt on Punk. And what do they gain if Rock wins? Is he gonna do a year? Will there be a tournament?

fender: I'm writing a column here apparently....and it was a good one. it does go to show that the live product will always be different than the TV one. This was a "celebration" show and it's like the crowd got to just go along. the only real story things seemed to be AJ = GM and Punk = Bad. That's all it really was. MORE I FORGOT BECAUSE I HAD A FLASK FULL OF FUN: DBD went full cheap heat mode between his smashing the set and him coming back to get interrupted by punk. Called out a St Louis Ram(D'marco Farr of the 99'-'00 rams team, also does espn radio on top rated show in timeslot for midwest), and anyone else in the crowd. Didn't work much with a proDB crowd They had a segment during breaks that showed signs. My "WHAR WRASSLIN WHAR" sign got on during that, as well as the Sign i gave my buddy that said "AJ CAN HAZ FIVEHEAD" Definite chuckles in the crowd from that. All signs shown were stupid markish signs, like RAW 1000 and the typical C ME CENA from random semihot blonde with spectacular chest. It was overall a great live event. Got my ziggles shirt and an autographed photo from him as he walked the merch lobby at one point. No pics though, i was bummed.

Of course, I did route my TV through the surround sound. I heard it, faintly, through the rear channel speakers.

Recapping while watching to fill in blanks...
Legit ovation based on cheers for vince. As well as legit TYV...
That DX pop was stunning. Was as loud as Blues/Sharks 2012 playoffs, which was best crowds i've ever been a part of here. That says a lot too.
That guy looks and acted way too normal to be XPac. Oop, scratch that. He looks drunk.

So anyone else notice Sin Cara didn't botch? He also shanged his eyes away from the weird colors, and the match was in normal light.
The kids cheered Ricardo and Booed Del Rio. I laughed my ass off. Also started Sodak #2 at this part. Lol @ JR poking fun at del Rio's entrance length "think i grew another beard"
Everyone and their mom booed the fuck out of sheen. I hope i hear myself booing when he's on nextI'm scared to watch the wedding.
HAND BABY FTW
So this explains why the spotlight followed that chick. Pretty good pop for brodus. Better Pop for the girls. I may or may have been doing the dance the girls do to start. The canadiens behind me were cheering 'white boy' on. I was proud.
Half the crowd had no clue who this was. The older half was marking out for FOLEY.
Made a comment to my buddy about how huge the dactyl's asses are and match was over. MOAR PROMOS

My favorite moment last night. Slater has the potential to be another Dolph Ziggler, performance wise. Maybe he needs to be in Vickie's stable instead of Swagger... and they need to get rid of that stupid fucking "one man band" gimmick.

The ratings are in...
This week's (7/23) edition of WWE Monday night RAW drew a 3.8 cable rating, with an average of 6.02 million viewers over the three hours. The regular two-hour portion drew a 4.02 (4.0) cable rating, with 6.31 million viewers. The first hour drew 5.43 million viewers, the second hour drew 6.32 million viewers and the third hour drew 6.30 million viewers. This is the first time an episode did over a 4.0 rating for the two-hour period since April 13, 2009, the show two weeks after WrestleMania 25. It's also the first time the show has averaged over six million viewers since the commercial-free episode in June of 2009.
Obviously, WWE has to be very happy about these numbers.

I'm watching AWA wrestling from'90 on ESPN Classic. This is crazy. Watching zybysko get interviewed by Bischoff. He has awesome hair. Also, Killer and Psycho, the Texas Hangmen? Man, i'm shocked Vince hasn't remade this gimmick, with Nooses and everything and given them a perennial feud with Kofi/Truth/Jimmy

Yes, but let's see how many of those people stay and keep watching. It's a windfall that got many lapsed people watching again, but RAW has to keep delivering enough substance to keep them turning in week after week. Which means, by the time Summerslam rolls around, the ratings will dip back under a 3.0, and Senile Vince will blame Punk and Ryder.

If I remember correctly, at this time the Texas Hangmen were Mike Moran and Bull Pain. Bull would leave and get replaced and the Hangmen would go onto Midwest indy fame and eventually to WCW enhancement as Disorderly Conduct. Mean Mike and Tough Tom. A friend of mine worked hospital security with Mike and Tom became a good friend of mine in the mid '90's as his brother was a frequent caller to our sports talk show on Sundays. Tom's a great guy. He'd drive from Sheboygan to Milwaukee just to get copies of the Torch and Observer and what I thought was relevant from RSPW and the old Wrestling for Smarts board from Prodigy. He'd call me when I was on before the show and ask, "Got my kayfabe, brother?" This was awesome then, as there was still kayfabing happening. Tom was one of the guys that trusted me. I guess Mike's doing real estate in Florida nowadays. No idea what Tommy's doing. He was working for Pomp's Tires before they got the call to Atlanta. Seeing a friend on TV was about the only reason I watched WCW Saturday Night. Edit/addition: Verne pushed kayfabe so much that he told them if they were gonna work outlaw dates is that they had to make sure they had the hoods on before they reached the building. Tom confirmed this. They would pull over within a half hour of the building and put their hoods on. /csb

Zbyszko retained against The Undefeated Trooper, and then The demolition Crew wentand cut a promo for 4 minutes. All the while i kept marvelling at Bischoff's hair. It was almost Mel Kiper-like
Fun overall to watch how basic a lot of this stuff is.
