styckx: This entire PPV is filled with shitty endings.. i think the KO match ending was good since you knew Tapas was getting involved. The tag match thing worked in a "Cleaner" win sense. Angle match was hard to put over cuz it was hard to sell the "angle's dead". Ultimate X was Sabin building up his using of Velvet and all... nothing horrid or "call cable company demand refund" of the "other" company... but nothing super clean. But when you have to sell the next TV show, we're at least getting pinfalls and submissions in every match. plus 3 title changes so far. Yes but I'm looking at it from a `This is TNAs Wrestlemania' perspective.. I'm expecting to be wow'ed.. Not just TNA going through the motions..

Bully, the man is trying to hit you in the head with a hammer, and your response is to slap him in the chest?

I just want to say: of course it's overbooked. That is the point of this match. End AJ at all costs.

That was.... Anticlimactic. Jesus, you're just intent on not enjoying the ppv. This isn't a throw away PPV, it's supposed to be the king of them all... Nearly all the endings of the matches just had no excitement to them.. The wrestling was fine and great story tellings.. But the endings all just felt weird and untimely..

The wrestling was fine and great story tellings.. But the endings all just felt weird and untimely.. That's how wrestling should be. The WWE had made us expect to see every finisher signaled before hand. Multiple false finishes before the end. Run-ins with the entrance music blaring. To the point that if someone simply taps out, it's considered anticlimactic. A Pele kick followed by the Spiral Tap should be enough, especially after a fight like that.

Smiths: TNA match endings at PPVs ately have felt.. weak.
like they have good endings but always fail to get that "oh my god is this going to be IT?" moment.
I got in for the finish of the tag match, so I can't comment on the show as a whole, but from what I saw of it, the finishes were pretty predictable and, yeah, anticlimactic. I just wasn't feeling it tonight. Sometimes you can go into a show thinking that you have all your ducks in a row, be on course to where you want to be, but sometimes something gets lost in the execution, or the chemistry just ain't there, or you were just plain wrong on where you wanted to take things. I think everyone expected the Tapas run in. We knew Roode/Angle was gonna be a classic. I expected Magnus to get the rub and we all knew that there was basically going to be a parade during the main, which I thought took away from a compelling deal between Bully and AJ on their own. Too much drama outside of the ring takes away from the drama inside the ring and I think that's exactly what happened in the main. I also think that there were too many multi-person matches on the show. 5 way, tag, 3 way for the girls and everybody but me running out for the main. IMO, when you have that many moving parts you're just asking for it. Smiths: Ed can tell us more but I believe there's always a booker responsible for finishes. Usually there's an agent assigned to a match (WWE calls them "producers" now) that go over the match and call the exact finish as in we know who's going over, but how do we get there. Smiths: Hayes i think did the Royal Rumble (or Prichard i forget), and others are always at the helm. I don't know who it is now, but Pat called the Rumble for years. It was his baby in that he brought it to Vince. I seem to remember they did something similar when he was in the San Fran territory. But back to the PPV itself, I thought it seemed a little flat. Loved Angle/Roode. Yeah, we've seen them before, but you never get the "aw Jesus, not this again" feeling. I got that in the main with all of the shenanigans. Maybe we haven't seen it in TNA, but we've gotten an assful of it from New York.

I'm on a wrestling forum where the TNA section is protectively guarded (modded) against "LOLTNA" people.. Same with their WWE section. They are very strict about keeping the fans of each populated in their respective forum sections and it works really well..
In light of that.. Even diehard TNA fans are saying it sucked.. I also went in with zero expectations.. It was just underwelming.. They don't run that many PPV's so the ones they do run should be hitting shit out of the park..
Both companies are in their uber sucky end of summer runs right now. WWE admittedly worse.. It's completely unwatchable.

Okay... I'm carny drunk. pmoneyallstar: I actually enjoyed Kurt Angle Vs Bobby Roode.
That was the match of the night. It was a great wrestling match. No bullshit, no nothing else. 3 workers in the ring (counting Brian). No stupid outside shit. I think it would've been even better if they never hit the ropes. Guys that get it. Not even a title on the line. Also, I think every title defended changed hands. The in-ring work was good. I just thought the parade in the main was stupid. The last time a heel boss worked was Austin/McMahon. Heel Dixie doesn't work. The latest McMahon-fest doesn't work. Why? Because it's not Austin/McMahon. That was fresh then. Not so much anymore. Sadly, I think the networks have too many fingers in the pie. We all know how wet Bonnie Hammer gets over the McMahon's on Raw. I would think it's common knowledge that Viacom has influence on TNA booking. Gotta have drama. The chase for a championship ain't enough? Personal issues? NO, and use these people. And it's all shit. The shit that was cutting edge 15 years ago isn't anymore. But as Roode/Angle proved, you can still get a positive reaction with an actual... oh my fucking God... wrestling match. Nobody did the 5 moves of doom. Pick a body part and work it. No color, no bullshit. Yeah, the heel's gonna heel, the baby will try to will himself through it. Seemed refreshing to me. And why the fuck did a spider try to climb up my screen? What worked yesterday doesn't always work today. It's like my bar owner that thinks turning on the lights should fill the place. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Same goes for WWE. All of that shit is just that: shit. IMO, one needs to be somewhat subtle in developing angles, not OMFG THE OWNER IS FUCKING EVERYBODY OUT OF THEIR SPOTS. Like I said before... been there, done that, I use the t-shirt to clean the gimmick when I do an oil change on my car. In the end, it's still garbage. You can put frosting on a turd, but it's still shit. /also, one of the big reasons that wrestling and reality shows are pushed is that the performers are not SAG members. //by all means I'm not a union toady, but think about it... ///Austin learned movies from the Funker ////some decent wrestling and psychology can work
