Loved the spot. Sting should've put his foot on the ropes, though.

In a million years, I wouldn't have imagined that Sting would willingly take so much punishment

lurch_E_bean: Are those retards chanting for Hogan during this? Why wouldn't they? He's a core part of this story.

That was an awesome match, and it ended the right way
Sting looked great, he put Bully over like a sumbitch, and A&8 conspired to completely fuck Sting.

Over-booked at the end, but it drove the point home that Aces & 8's revolves around Bully having that belt, and they'll do anything to keep it that way.

Sting sold that hard. He's still lying down while the biker gang celebrates. The announcers call attention to Sting never being able to challenge for the belt again.
This is how you put guys over, when you yourself are that over.

styckx: Weird how no one helped Sting... yeah. that the only annoying part with the A8 thing... it like.. they can beat the shit out of people but no one ever just runs out Way to much overbooking imo.. I know Sting has a name draw but... It's getting a little Cena like when Sting kicks out of over 9000 finishing spots and one punch, one kills 99% of a faction He needs to retire

So their top guy for the past ten years lost and doesn't get any more title shots? What is this? TNA, you so crazy...

Yes, he does need to retire. That appears to be what he's doing, heading towards his retirement. I'd say losing at Slammiversary and forgoing any further title matches indicates as much.

Why is everyone assuming that the "never again" can't be retconned if they want to? How many retirement matches have led to people un-retiring?

Slammiversary by the numbers 8 matches 3 title changes out of 4 defenses 173 minutes of show 88 minutes of bell-to-bell action 51% of the event dedicated to actual wrestling In addition, Kurt Angle was named to the TNA Hall Of Fame Joseph Park was beaten to the inability to compete for the TV championship. But his brother Abyss wrestled in his place and won the belt. The Knockouts, Gail and Taryn, delivered a Last Man (woman) Standing match that exceeded the Cena/Ryback match in every way, including having an actual ending. Sting can no longer challenge for the world title.
Slammiversary was better than every WWE Pay Per View this year, including Wrestlemania. having months to build up to the event paid off in spades.

Good PPV. With all the fuckery that happens with A/8's I would think that there will be more gimmicks to keep them from crashing the party in future title shots.

My scorecard:
HOF: Jeff Jarrett. 0 Free Agent: Cliff Compton. N/A Championship: Bully Ray with no Brooke swerve. I can't call that a swerve. 4 out of 4 points AJ/Kurt: 0 Tag Championship: I had Chavo and Hernandez. BZZZZZT. Mark it zero. Devon/JoePa: I had Devon with a JoePa appearance so I get 1. X match: Sabin. 1 point. 6 man tag: 0 Knockouts: 0 Gutcheck: 1
Total: 7
I really enjoyed the show. Nothing that blew me away except for the Knockouts. I'd grade it around a B- to a B, so that would be 3 and 3/4 to 4 stars. And that was for overall entertainment and wrestling value combined. The thing I really like about TNA PPVS is the flow and lack of clutter. The pretapes (backstage interviews, I'm just assuming they're pretapes) and the video packages weren't overbearing. That helped with the flow of the show, which I put over during the show. Very non-fatiguing. It's not like there was 8 minutes of bullshit between matches where you'd be better served getting another drink, smoking or shitting.
- The 4-way tag seemed like a bit of a schmoz but it was okay in the end. It brings back Gunner and puts Storm in some kind of spotlight for a bit. It can also lead to some good matches with any of the other 3 teams.
One of the strengths of TNA is how they rotate talent. Outside of Hogan and Brooke, who are we really sick of? With A/8's, I would think that some of the guys will be moved out as Bully continues to go nuts.
- The main, while overbooked was okay. I coulda done without the Brooke run-in as well as the schmoz with A/8's. Also, let's think about Bully with the knife for a minute. You're in a fight. You're the head of a biker gang. You have a knife in your hand. Take the goddamned knife and go after the baby. After all, Sting said he'd make Bully bleed. Then Stinger kicks the knife away and gets a comeback. Knife is still at ringside. Bully gets bumped to the outside, Sting follows, throw Sting into the steps or the rail so he can sell for a minute and *then* cut the apron down and pull the padding on the ring.
Also, the heel has to deliver in his promos. Otherwise the people think he's bullshitting. The heel is supposed to be a big, bad motherfucker. If a heel says he's gonna piledrive the baby, then he better. If the heel says he's gonna hurt the baby, then he better. Be vague. Don't say I'm gonna break Sting's neck. Say I'm gonna piledrive him. Work your shit so you can deliver. Bully could've piledrove a carton of eggs and most of them would've been ok. Yes. The piledriver is dangerous, but safe if done right. It got fucked up a few times so we don't see it much anymore. Which makes it seems dangerous.
It's also okay if the baby doesn't come through. There's usually the aspect of "I'll get him next time" and there's some form of forgiveness.
