Ed Becker: Goddamnit, wrestling. Why do you have to be so predictable? It is good. People actually give a shit about A&8 and the title is in "enemy territory". Good stuff.

And of course on mainland it's all, "Predictable, meh."
Look. SuperCena winning is bad predictable.
Bully Ray inciting fans to throw garbage is good predictable.
It's not hard.

Show length was 173 minutes Match time was 101 minutes
58% of the show was dedicated to bell-to-bell action
And honest to god, I don't think there was a bad match tonight.

This angle is in good hands. gunnyhighway: Ed Becker : Goddamnit, wrestling. Why do you have to be so predictable? It is good. People actually give a shit about A&8 and the title is in "enemy territory". Good stuff. I'll go back on that. I typed that right as he nailed Jeff with the hammer. The reaction, however was nuclear. Fucking nuclear. Bully is one of the best workers out there when it comes to eliciting a response from a crowd. Part of me wants to shit on it for being the obvious turn, but I was impressed to fuck with the execution of the whole thing and that's what matters in the end. I mean, when was the last time you saw so much shit thrown at the ring? Hogan's turn? The Philly chair party?

Sons of Twittah.
Great.
Calling her a bitch WAS a great touch though.
Hey, at least I was wrong about Jarrett.

Smiths: but since Slammiversary X the company has fucking busted its ass off to TRY and appease the smarks, the marks, the casual fans, and the FUCKING TOURISTS WHO GET IN FOR FREE. And I would say at least. AT LEAST. 75% of the time they do that just fine.
That is a huge thing. When they ran in Orlando they were in front of people who weren't necessarily fans of the product or up on it. They had to bring them into the show. It was hit or miss at times but more often hit than not. And now they filled almost 10k seats. I haven't heard if it was heavily papered but I doubt it. I've done some ticket searches via the various venues' ticketing agencies and the available tix were mediocre at best which leads me to believe TNA isn't papering the fuck out of their shows. Usually promoters, and this spans pert near all forms of live entertainment, have half-way decent comp sections just because as a promoter of any event it reflects badly if word gets around that "I won tickets for [blah] on WFUK and the seats sucked. Fuck [blah] and fuck WFUK." Okay, now to drunkenly ramble about the show now that I've had time to digest it and drink and digest those drinks... - I missed the X Division match and JoePa. It seems that the X'ers are the designated curtain jerkers. This is not a negative thing. The opening match is one of the most important on a live show and the spot-fests that the X Division usually deliver pops the crowd and wakes them up. Tonight, they followed with a comedy match and then the girls. Bring the people up, bring them down. Let them breathe otherwise you get them blown up and you lose them. Same way a band puts together a setlist. - Velvet and Gail was okay. I had issues with Gail getting physical with Taryn but it seemed obvious to me that Taryn would eventually get pulled into the ruckus. You never touch an official. Would Aaron Rodgers get away with that? Would Kobe Bryant get away with that? Hell, when I was flagging the demolition derby at the Crawford County Fair in Cuba, MO, driver Joe-Bob Bubba wouldn't get away with it. I'd make him a trailer queen. I'm a little bummed, because I think Taryn's one of their better refs. You ref like it's a shoot. - The Robbie's? Meh. - The tag match was a blast. I usually hate 3-ways, but this one was fun. There was some really good heat, some great power moves from Hernandez... I've shat on him countless times but he was used almost perfectly in this match. Nice heat in the corner, nice cutoffs. Lotsa moving parts in the finish, but they executed it beautifully. - Angle and Wes was about what I thought it would be. You get to that point in the card when you're trying to advance the A/8's angle and that's about what you gotta do. Can Wes Briscoe actually beat Kurt Angle? No. So shenanigans ensue. Even though the heels went over in the previous match, this shouldn't kill the crowd. - Lethal Lockdown was a lot better than I expected. I thought it would be the shits. When team TNA went over I knew there were gonna be shenanigans in the main. Sting with the plundah was a nice touch since it's been a while since it's been used. I was kinda surprised there wasn't any color, especially since it's easy to get hardway off of a used trash can. - Bully and Jeff was good. No need for color there as it's not a blood feud. While I thought the finish was predictable, it was perfectly executed. The crowd was hotter than fuck. Bully is one of the few workers that can just so abruptly turn a crowd. He always has them eating out of his hand. And yeah, it's all been done before. People like what they're familiar with. That's not a dig on anything or anybody. Led Zeppelin never filled an arena with "Hats Off to Roy Harper." It was a fun show. Great pacing.

Smiths: Auntie Cheesus : Oh, fuck me. That move made my back hurt. Been drinking since I got home on Friday. Having my office go up in smoke will do that to me. real fire or fuck up fire? Electrical fire caused by trying to run a server and a repair depot off a single junction box. It seems that the server overloaded the system and caused a bit of smoke and flame when it blew.

I think I would have enjoyed the ending last night even better if Brooke had been in on it. That would have been the ultimate, as far as the betrayal to Hulk himself is concerned. And even though I know it's all acting, my empathy kicked into gear when Bully called her a bitch and said "I screwed you", meant in a literal and figurative fashion. As a woman, there is nothing more soul crumpling than that second when you first find out that you were used. Although I suppose the fact that she wasn't in on it made Bully's turn that much more potent.
Also, Hulk kind of no-sold the reveal I thought. He did some finger wagging and called Bully a Sonuvabitch, but his reaction was otherwise sort of lackluster.
But those are small complaints, I thought it was a great PPV over all.

He did some finger wagging and called Bully a Sonuvabitch, but his reaction was otherwise sort of lackluster. okay glad someone else saw that. he was just like "you're dead"..... and then zoned off. Old fuck is old. and "LET THAT STUPID BITCH CRY" was like... the meanest fucking thing I have heard in this scripted drama in a LONG time. Like holy shit I love Bully Ray and his Twittah Machine.... and that was like "even if you're a smark cheering him because you're a smark... you're going to hate him for that" I cheered at him saying it, cheered for the TV impact it had, cheered for it just being the most evil thing to say in that whole situation.... but goddamn if i didn't go "oh man, fuck you Bully" at the same time. I think I actually let a little squeek when he said that, like "oh noooooooooooo" poor Brooke, lol. One could argue that Hulk was in shock I suppose, and that is why he didn't really react, but I don't know, he could have hammed it up a bit more. Auntie Cheesus, I am hoping "a bit of smoke and flame" means no one was hurt and damage was limited to equipment...

Auntie Cheesus, I am hoping "a bit of smoke and flame" means no one was hurt and damage was limited to equipment... Actually, underselling the reaction was perfect. Hulk was so shocked that this man, whom he now thought of as a son... that he had given his little girl to in matrimony, had effectively cut out his heart by being the mastermind of the group that had made his professional life Hell for the last year. Hamming it up would have been wrong - they played it as a man broken. "Let that stupid bitch cry" and "I fooled you, Hulk and I screwed you, Brooke" just added to the grittiness of that heel turn. Between the construction of the year long story, the false hints in the dirt sheets and the final reveal, TNA creative needs to give themselves a big pat on the back. Only damage was to the server that I share the room with. Bonus - it's only a test box, so it has no effect on production for the customer. Double bonus - the guy that handles it is out for the week for spring break, so I get at least a week of no whining server fans.
