Bruno Sammartino on Vince McMahon, Ric Flair and the HOFMy favorite part: Sammartino on his thoughts of the WWE Hall Of Fame: "I am in the Hall of Fame. The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. Only wrestlers get inducted there. When you talk about (Vince) McMahon’s Hall of Fame, I absolutely wouldn’t have any part of it because of my feelings for him and his company. Secondly, it’s not a legitimate Hall of Fame. When you have kids and you wanna go see a building, there’s nowhere to go. It’s just a marketing campaign. Look who’s in it, game show hosts, Drew Carey. A baseball player, football player. I’d be embarrassed to be in that Hall of Fame."

Okay, Bruno.
The problem is, wrestling is a work. So saying, "I'm above this" is a bit haughty. Bruno has a reason to be a mark for himself, but his 7 year run as champ was due entirely to Vince McMahon Sr.'s whims and mind for business, not because Bruno could legitimately pin his opponents every night. Oh well. When Bruno kicks it, David will gladly accept the small payday that comes with appearing at the HOF induction, and he'll make weepy eyes over his dad, whom he hated for most of his life, while WWE digs out footage it's been waiting for years to make money on.

OK, I get that he has a grudge against Vince, but when he starts bitching about how it's just a marketing campaign and he doesn't want to be in the hall with game show hosts and football players, I have to roll my eyes a little.
Bruno, you used to tag-team with Battman. Get over yourself.
