So, in the wake of the shooting at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin, I have a feeling WWE is scrambling to do something about the Ryback vs. Mahal storyline. You know, the one where the Sikh is about to get his ass kicked by a big bald white guy? Yeaaaaah... probably not long for TV.
So how would you go about fixing it? The way I see it, there are a few options:
A) Pull Mahal off TV completely for a while. I don't like this move at all, but it's the one WWE is most likely to do in a panic-mode situation they feel they can't write themselves out of. Ryberg is being pushed and will continue to be pushed. They can't show many chinks in his armor yet, either, because they have booked him as a wrecking ball on an undefeated streak.
B) Hot-shot the story in as subdued of a way as possible. Even worse option. The possibility of backlash from the Sikh community (and WWE shareholders) is too great of a risk to a company desperately trying to be seen as more than the high-budget human carnival show it (mostly) is.
C) Put sympathy on Mahal. I like this option the best. They could show Mahal backstage in the locker room, obviously effected by the tragedy. Ryback puts a hand on his shoulder and Mahal reacts like they're about to fight. Ryback shakes his head (with the hand still on his shoulder) and just says, "When you're ready." He can then give him a pat on the back or something and leave, and Mahal could acknowledge the gesture without saying a word.
D) Pretend there was no Jinder Mahal-Ryback feud by keeping them both off TV until after Summerslam. Nobody will remember after that anyway, FU smarks, etc. This is the other likely option, though I don't think they want Ryback off TV that long.
Wondering what FWC thinks will happen, if anything.
