Those Fark threads die the day after the show. They used to go on nearly a whole week, with folks coming back, rewatching, shooting the shit and talking wrestling. Now? Dead after sign off.
I hate to be one of those, "Meh, it was better before!" guys, but yeah, it was better before. I like having this forum too, but the FWC threads are not better just because everyone's on the, "We only talk about wrestling, no smiles allowed!" kick. I've never believed pro wrestling deserves or needs 100% serious discussion. It's guys in tights pretending to fight, you can't be sober about that for more than 10 seconds, tops.

P$ still checks the Fark threads and he says last night they only went to a little over 200 posts. We had a little over 150 here and new users keep trickling in all the time.

At least two accounts are FARK lurkers that signed up in case they want to post, one of those being my daughter. Our current membership is 51 accounts. Our rules are relaxed. I don't see our board as being an alt magnet like FARK is.

Yeah I have to agree with this assessment, most of the user list of this board consists of names that I recognize as established fWc members, some from the earliest days of the fWc. Some are lurkers that I became aware over the course of time as they started contacting me on twitter. There are a few names that I do not recognize at all, one or two I can guess who they might be. (except Senile Vince, I am really curious to know who that is, since Senile Vince on Fark was either me or P$). It is also worth noting that we get an average of about 30 unique IP visitors a day, most of which are repeat visitors. Also, most folks are not going to go through the trouble of changing their IP address every time they log in or access the site as a guest, and there are very few people on the board using proxies.

I suspect the reason we have at least one alt account is because people do not realize they can modify their user name in their profile here.
Personally, I have considered using the name I used long ago, back in the days of BBS's, when the dinosaurs roamed the ether.

my username is Analchanger (my Fark Impact name, actual Fark handle is Anarchangel) but my display name is Senile Vince, because I love sliding into that character now and then. (you can tell when I'm in-character because all of my text is center-big-bold and there's almost always an 'FU smarks' in there) Why? Because if you think wrestling discussion is SERIOUS BUSINESS you should be making ROH threads and never tainting your perfect wrestling fan eyeballs with such glorified soap opera shtick filth that is Triple H's Wrestling Company. Seriously, the people who go all berserker on the fluff stuff in the threads should be focusing their rage at the shitty product instead of belittling others in our fractured community. Or, you know, you could be like most of us: have a drink or a smoke (if such activities are appealing to you) and enjoy the lulzy trainwreck every week. It's like one of those old "24" discussion threads... only with more memes, fewer badges, a pony fetish, and nowhere near as many pictures of grown men crying. And yeah, I totally stole the Senile Vince character from you guys. Hope you don't mind...

I don't care, I sucked at Senile Vince. Sorry I didn't remember you from the threads. :-) I enjoy ROH and I def think it's better than the E right now, but I gotta tell you, I don't think it is serious business either, LOL. I note you used the phrase "community". There are some who do not agree with the assessment that that is what the fWc is or ever was. That's part of the problem I think. But that is just my opinion. To each his own said the maid, and she kissed the cow.

Well, I was originally going to use "sanatorium" but I was worried people would think I was going political.

I think you are thinking of "Santorum". If it was sanatorium more likely everyone would think you were gonna bring them to the funny farm.

Senile Vince: Well, I was originally going to use "sanatorium" but I was worried people would think I was going political. That reminded me of the outgoing message on the first answering machine my dad ever owned: "Thank you for calling the Happy Valley Sanitarium. At the tone, please leave a message with your name, psychosis and number. The staff is currently tied up at the moment, but as soon as one of them escapes their straight jacket, we will return your call." Now, I figure this place is more of a never ending house party than a community. It's a place you can pull up a chair, take your shoes off, grab a beer and mock or discuss the subject at hand.

The fire pit would be a lovely idea if Texas wasn't already so dry that an errant spark would send up half the county.
