I wonder does he still have to "fulfill his contractual obligations"? He is supposed to actually wrestle in the Raw coming to Albany in September.

Johnny Ace basically does what Auntie Cheesus did. That's a big step down from EVP of Talent Relations.
From many accounts, Ace sucked balls in his old position. OVW losing the developmental deal was his fault. So was the rash of talent being brought up early, used a few times as cannon fodder and future endeavored (i.e. Colt Cabana and others). He's on Cornette's (Admittedly very long) shit list, that's for sure.
I don't think Ace's job was easy for a second, but JR managed to do it and be an on air talent for years. Ace couldn't handle just that one role for quite a while. His on-air role was short lived. There are always stories circulating about him, regarding how he's made it further based on things besides talent for a long time, and after a while it snowballed into, "Well he worked for Giant Baba, he must know what he's doing!" I think that happens in wrestling just like any business. Certain guys are related or connected to the right people and survive for years with the bare minimum of competence. Ace strikes me as one of those types, a decent wrestler who Peter Principled out pretty quickly, but nobody does the right thing and cans him.

So if he does wrestle in Albany, what will his intro spiel be now?
"My name is John Laurinitus, I am the former general manager of both Monday night raw and smackdown and the executive vice president of getting the important people behind the scenes hot caffeinated beverages?"

I don't think Johnny could be trusted to get coffee. He might accidentally put soy milk in Vince's.
