Aside from it being a great match, I liked the fact that Orton sold, shook DB's hand and headed up the ramp to go churn out a steaming coiled peanut winder in DB's bag.

so i was thinking more on it and i loved seeing them lifting the cup and celebrating...
but it felt like...
HHH being handed the belt and then jumping on the ropes like YEAH I DID IT
the shortened season thing kinda hit me when i saw them all going so nuts
it like:
you played half a season... it not the same.
ASTERISK. Oh fuck off Smiths. They played 48 games in 98 days NOT COUNTING the playoffs. That's one game every two god damn days. They played 60% of a normal season. This season counts the same as the the others. They weren't pre-ordained to be given the Cup (aka the belt in this scenario). They still earned their playoff spot and proceeded to play a normal playoff setup that would have happened in any other season. no i get that. i know they played a lot. i know it was a full playoffs. but no winter classic, no first half of the season, etc... just not a complete season. sorry. think about how many players get injured in that first half of the season? the fact it couldn't happen this year is[/b[ important. IT does not demean the playoffs and the cup win.
But to say this was in any way the same type of season as the past 5 years is factually incorrect. There were actually more injuries this year per game than last year given the fact that they were playing with much much less recovery time. Still. Counts. I don't see anyone trying to take away New Jersey's accomplishment when they won their cup on a shortened season. |

Right? I was actually waiting for a followup post so I didn't just do two posts in a row and that was exactly what my brain was thinking... i dunno. I'm sure i'd be insanely happy. and I'd probably defned it because it's what we all do as humans... but in hindsight i'd probably also be like "huh." So yeah, it's tricky in my head movies. I still in all ways do not consider this a true season. I said from the first game of the "season" that it would have an *. Seriously said that from the first goddamn game. The emotional me says "If Flyers won I'd be jizzing on the floor going FUCK YOU FOR SAYING IT A SHORTENED SEASON WOOO" The logical me says "It still is not the same as winning the cup via a full regular season and cannot be compared to the past cup wins" That's why I was truly hoping for LA Kings to repeat; I figured they were the only team who could win the cup on this shortened "season" without my logical and emotional sides fighting too much. You could have a 4 game NFL season and I would be all THE VIKINGS WON THE SUPERBOWL BITCHES. Everyone else had to play the same kind of season, so fuck it. The Trophy is The Trophy. |
